How We Are Governed

The Arab Cultural Foundation is governed by an independent Board of Trustees in accordance with its founding charter and the requirements of charity law in England and Wales. The Board is responsible for ensuring the Foundation fulfils its charitable purposes, manages its resources responsibly, and operates with the transparency required of a registered public benefit charity.
The Foundation operates a secretariat which manages the day-to-day administration of the charity, coordinates its programme activities, and maintains communication with grantees, partners, and supporters.
The Foundation submits annual accounts and a trustees' annual report to the Charity Commission for England and Wales. These documents, which detail the Foundation's financial stewardship and charitable activities, are publicly available through the Charity Commission's register of charities.
Charitable Purposes (Summary)
As set out in the Foundation's founding charter, registered with the Charity Commission on 27 July 1988:
- • To promote education in Arab culture, civilisation, language and arts
- • To support the preservation of Arab cultural heritage materials and archives
- • To advance scholarship in Arab intellectual and cultural history
- • To support independent Arab cultural institutions and organisations
- • To promote cultural exchange and dialogue between Arab and other communities
